Barbara Bush Recognizes raising readers

Barbara Bush visited the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center on September 3, 2003 not only to visit her namesake facility, but to recognize raising readers. Mrs. Bush has been a strong advocate for literacy for many years and is especially proud of raising readers' wide success and simple effectiveness. She gave awards recognizing Pediatricians–accepted by Steve Osborne M.D.of Greater Portland Pediatrics and Family Practice Clinicians–accepted by Ann Skelton M.D.,Chief of Family Practice at Maine Medical Center. Patricia Patterson M.D., Attending physician at the BBCH Pediatric Clinic, received an award recognizing her leadership for literacy in health care.
