raising readers Exhibits at National AAP Conference
Program director Diane Skog was at the American Academy of Pediatrics "Future of Pediatrics Conference" in July to present a poster about the program's impact.
As the only privately funded, statewide health and literacy program in the nation, raising readers continues to demonstrate that healthcare providers can play an important role to make the connection for parents about the importance of reading to their child frequently from infancy onward, that reading facilitates bonding and attachment with their child and also fosters brain and
language development.
"All of the healthcare providers I met at the conference asked if Mainers realize how lucky they are to have funding for such a large program. We are VERY lucky - thank you Libra Foundation!"
